Mahia Golf Club is a humble throwback 9 hole links course that is routed through a low dune ridge. Located on the Mahia Peninsula between Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay. The highlight holes are the doglegged left opening (the longest hole on the course) and the 190-meter sixth (The Beacons) which is named for ship-locator beacons which were once placed in the high ground behind the green. The last hole worth mentioning is "The Cleveage" as the two mounds that lie on each side of the elevated, two-tiered green at home give the hole the name.
